Today is World Down Syndrome Day.

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) , 21st March, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.

The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

Down Syndrome usually causes some level of learning disability and here at SLATE we celebrate all abilities.

Well Done to Annie who works at the Feel Good Cafe at The Old Fire Station for your winning entry into the Global Recycling Day poster competition. It is a cracking piece of art.

We asked our volunteers to think about what recycling is and how we can show that to our customers. As the winner, Annie gets a humungous easter egg. Global Recycling Day is about challenging us to think again about what we throw away – seeing not waste, but opportunity.

On average the Feel Good Slate Furniture Store saves around 12,000 large furniture and electrical items going to landfill which we are very proud of.

SLATE is excited to be a finalist at the Reuse Awards next month.

We are up for Reuse Organisation of the year and we have some very stiff competition.

We would love it if you could take the time to vote for us, winning this award would mean so much to all the team.

Many Thanks

With the recent news of COVID-19 restrictions being lifted by the UK Government we still would like to maintain the same level of awareness for social distancing as seen prior - for the safety of our customers and colleagues' wellbeings.

While it is no longer required that you wear any face coverings from the 19th onwards (outside of the use of public transport), we do encourage you to wear face coverings when appropriate.

Thank you and stay safe.
